Hardware Terms of Service

These terms govern the purchase of hardware products from LP-Research Inc. (“LP-Research”, “we”, “us”). They set out the warranty, return, and cancellation conditions between LP-Research and the purchaser (“you”, “your”) of LP-Research products (“Product” or “Products”).

1. Returns

Products may be returned within 30 calendar days of purchase for a refund, subject to a 30% restocking fee. Shipping and handling charges are non-refundable and are covered by you. Contact LP-Research at info@lp-research.com before shipping any return to obtain authorization and return instructions.

2. Dead on arrival (DOA)

If a Product fails to function due to a hardware failure upon first use, it is considered dead on arrival (DOA) and may be returned for a full refund or replacement within 30 calendar days of the invoice date. Contact info@lp-research.com to initiate a DOA claim.

Custom-made Products that are not part of LP-Research’s standard product lineup are non-returnable, except when DOA.

LP-Research technical support will evaluate each DOA claim and offer one of the following:

1. Replacement. A replacement unit is shipped at our expense, and LP-Research coordinates the return of the DOA item.
2. Repair. If you choose repair instead, it is at your expense and you waive the right to request a replacement.

If a returned item turns out not to be DOA or has been misrepresented, a handling fee may be applied at our discretion.

3. Order cancellation

Once an order for a customized Product or a batch production has entered the manufacturing phase, it can no longer be cancelled, modified, or refunded. Customized Products are items made to unique customer specifications or in tailored configurations outside LP-Research’s standard product offering; batch production is any large-volume manufacturing initiated on customer request.

You acknowledge that once production has started, LP-Research incurs irreversible costs; such orders are therefore final and non-cancellable.

4. Limited warranty

LP-Research warrants that each Product will be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use for 360 calendar days from the date of shipment (the “Limited Warranty”).

5. Warranty returns (RMA)

If you believe a Product does not meet the Limited Warranty, email support@lp-research.com to obtain a Return Material Authorization (RMA) number and return instructions.

Returned Products must include the original packaging and all included items (accessories, manuals, documentation) together with a description of the issue. You are responsible for return shipping costs and for damage in transit. We recommend that you:

1. use a carrier that offers shipment tracking, and
2. insure the package or declare its full value, to cover potential loss or damage.

6. Remedy

LP-Research’s sole obligation under the Limited Warranty is to repair, replace, or refund the Product, at our sole discretion. If a defect is confirmed, we will either:

1. repair the Product using new or refurbished parts,
2. replace it with a new or refurbished unit, or
3. refund the purchase price to your original payment method.

Replaced items become the property of LP-Research. “Refurbished” means restored to original specifications. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, which may vary by jurisdiction.

7. Warranty exclusions

The Limited Warranty does not cover:

1. damage from accidents, misuse, abuse, fire, flooding, or other external causes;
2. leaking batteries or liquid damage;
3. service or modifications by unauthorized parties;
4. use of incompatible or non-LP-Research accessories or parts;
5. damage during return shipment; or
6. Products with tampered serial numbers or identification labels.

The following are excluded from warranty returns altogether:

1. electronic software downloads, and
2. upgrades to existing Products.

8. Warranty disclaimer

Except as expressly stated in these terms, all Products and services are provided “as is”. LP-Research disclaims all other warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Where legally permitted, the duration of any implied warranty is limited to the duration of the Limited Warranty.

9. Limitation of liability

LP-Research shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of data, loss of use, business interruption, or loss of profits. Total liability is limited to the original purchase price of the Product. These limitations apply even if a remedy fails in its essential purpose. Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on implied warranties or on consequential damages, so these exclusions may not apply to you.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. All disputes shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court, unless otherwise agreed in writing by LP-Research.

11. Purchases through partners

These terms also apply to LP-Research products sold through our authorized distribution partner Xikaku Inc. (xikaku.com). By purchasing LP-Research products via Xikaku, you accept the same warranty, return, and cancellation terms as if the purchase had been made directly from LP-Research. Software bundled with a Product is licensed under the Software End-User License Agreement.
